A lot can be said about the holiday, but it is ultimate a celebration of the light that shines in the darkness. Through Isaiah, God promised a child many hundreds of years ago. He promised joy, freedom and peace. It's easy to look around and say we see none of that. But as is usual, God's intent doesn't exactly match up with our expectations. And as usual, God's intent is much more joyful, much more freeing and much more peaceful than we could have ever hoped.
