The building is a small, relaxed atmosphere. And the people are just as relaxed. We're known for waving to our neighbors and giving hugs when we see each other. Folks at Rising are generous and helpful and want to make sure that you feel welcomed.
We catch up with other believers over a snack provided by someone in the church and some coffee. Currently our official gathering begins at 10:30 where we start off with some singing. Songs range from timeless hymns to more modern songs you might hear on the radio. Then our minister takes us through a passage of the Bible hoping to, in his words, encourage and expose you. Lastly - we take communion together every Sunday both in remembrance and in celebration that Jesus has defeated death and we have the opportunity to walk in the newness of life because of Him.
We like to encourage folks to dress in a way that would communicate respect as we are gathering together to honor each other and the Lord. But our version of respect isn't a mandatory suit and tie. You can absolutely dress your Sunday best with a tie or a dress. But we are more than welcoming to folks who come in a nice t-shirt and jeans too.
During our gathering we have a wiggle room available to any parents of infants and toddlers. There you'll find a changing table, a pack-n-play, and some toys. The TV in that room can stream the service happening upstairs or tune into RightNowMedia for some positive entertainment for your young one.
Kids and teens older than toddler age have a class they can go to during the sermon portion of our gathering. They are dismissed from the main gathering and remain in their classes through the end of our time together.
Kindergarden through 5th grade have a class to attend where they will learn a Biblical truth through discussion, activities and crafts. Teenagers have more of a small group type class where they read and discuss scripture. Their teacher will apply Bible principles to their lives.
Around the building we have a dirt parking lot and a lawn lot on the north side of the building. You're welcome to park there.
If you're able to take a short walk, we rent a parking lot across the street and we have a very helpful parking lot crew that will stop traffic to help you cross the street.
There is also city parking south on Saginaw Street. To the north of Riverview Towers and the south of CarQuest there is a free city parking lot. Aditionally, if you turn west on Park Street, there is more city parking that is behind Ross Automotive (Auto Value Lapeer).
