This past Sunday I had the privilege to announce that we are beginning a search for a Children's Ministry Director at Rising Church!

Over the last couple of years, we have had families with children and teens visit with us. And unfortunately, we have seen them try other churches because they were hoping to find a ministry that specifically invested in their kids.

As the Lord has blessed this church and through much prayer, the elders have felt led to create a part-time position devoted to building a children's ministry program.

The goal is two-fold:

First, we'd like the opportunity to serve these families. As we said on Sunday, our lives are richer because of the relationships at Rising Church, and we'd love to see that increase. We'd love to see more children running around during our gatherings, to be able to encourage them and also that they might have the chance to encourage us.

Second, we have a responsibility to leave a legacy. While growth is certainly a goal of Rising, we're more concerned that the gospel roots deep in Lapeer. While there are many churches in Lapeer county, the latest available data says that approximately 70% of our neighbors here are not associated with any church. We have a mission field in our own neighborhood, and oftentimes, people come to church because of their kids excitement in Jesus. Our faithfulness to the gospel while seeking to meet this felt need of the people in our community can leave a lasting legacy of faith in the next generation that will live in our community.

Our hope is that not only will we be blessed because of this opportunity, but that our world will be blessed through faithful teaching and discipling of children and their families.

Job Details

We have a job description posted here.

We are planning to pay for this through the savings that we have built up over the last couple of years. Because it's not attached to our regular budget, we're committing to this part-time job for a period of one year with the hope that God will bring enough growth that it can be added to our yearly budget and even more, become a full time position.

The reality of this means that we cannot attract an out-of-town candidate or recent graduate looking to get their start. But we also know that God doesn't measure credentials. He qualifies and makes a way for those He calls. Even more reason to pray that God's will be done. He's led us to this point and we believe He'll be faithful as we move forward in faith.

How You Can Help

  1. Pray. The leadership has been praying and we'd like for you to join us. Pray for the Lord to send us the right individual that loves Jesus, loves kids, and will love our church family. Pray for our leadership as we will be tasked with interviewing and trusting the Lord to guide us in this process.
  2. Share. If you know a person who might be a fit, share that we have this position available.
  3. Worship. We are grateful that we're even in a position to be able to think in this way. Many churches are shrinking, cutting, and even closing because of the current climate. Do not forget to praise God that He has blessed our church in this way.

In the meantime, I can't wait to celebrate Christmas with you all. Let's celebrate this season with hope and expectation of our reigning and coming King!
